The iconic Ford Explorer has impressively evolved over six generations, and the 2025 model brings many exciting updates and improvements. As a mid-generation refresh, the 2025 Explorer features a streamlined trim lineup and enhancements across the interior and exterior. The available trims now include the Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum.
The 2025 Ford Explorer boasts a bold facade with significant updates to front and rear lighting, grille, and air inlets. Strong angles along the roof and sides convey a sense of forward motion. The grille now features a distinctive cup-style mesh design, and a horizontal crease under the grille connects to the edgy air inlets. The squared-off headlights taper sharply towards the rear, adding to the vehicle's dynamic look. Additionally, the top three trims now offer a black-painted roof option for the first time.
The 2025 Explorer maintains its impressive capabilities with two robust powertrain options for most trims. These include a 300-horsepower, turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, and a 400-horsepower, turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. The Platinum trim comes standard with the 400-horsepower V6. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and can be configured with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Inside, the 2025 Ford Explorer has seen several enhancements. The Platinum, ST, and ST-Line trims now feature the hands-free BlueCruise driving system. Soft-touch surfaces and center console have been added to the door panels across all trims, along with new cabin color options. The Ford Digital Experience, the new infotainment system software, includes internet browsing, native streaming, and numerous apps, enhancing the overall driving experience.
Many of the Explorer’s outstanding features remain unchanged for 2025. These include remote engine start, a hands-free liftgate, leather upholstery, a B&O sound system with 10 speakers, a surround-view camera, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, and more.
