What's New for the 2025 Ford Explorer ST?
The family-friendly Ford Explorer offers the seating, features, and power that you expect from your next SUV. In 2025, the trim lineup is pared down to four options. These are the Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum. In addition to an adjustment to the trim options, the 2025 Explorer benefits from improvements to its interior, exterior, and technologies. The ST is among the most popular trims available, so what can you expect from it in the 2025 model year?
The 2025 Ford Explorer ST displays subtle yet impactful updates to the front fascia. This includes improvements to the grille, air inlets, and headlights. The grille is almost squared off and boasts a honeycomb mesh pattern. The headlights run horizontally and are styled with a captivating, multi-elemental LED design and an upper LED ribbon. The sides show off modest black molding over the fenders, and this molding thickens over the lower door panels. The sides also display both crisp and smooth contouring that runs at an angle for a powerful look. At the rear, the Ford Explorer sports upgraded taillights. A new option for the ST trim level is a black-painted roof. The Explorer ST comes with 21-inch wheels, a power liftgate, and a Class III tow hitch.
Under the hood, the Ford Explorer ST is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 gas engine. This unit puts out 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, and it pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, or you can upgrade to all-wheel drive. Upgraded front brakes and a sport-tuned suspension system also elevate the ST trim level's performance.
Inside the cabin, the Ford Explorer ST is styled with upgraded, soft-touch materials and is now available with a few new interior color options. In addition, it comes with the Ford Digital Experience for the first time in 2025. This is an infotainment system upgrade that improves app navigability and access. This trim level also offers a B&O sound system with 14 speakers, a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, heated first and second-row seats, captain's chairs in the second row, ambient cabin lights, a power-folding function for the third row, a wireless phone charger, massaging front seats, and more.
