2020 Ford Fusion vs 2019 Ford Fusion

Serving Charlotte, NC

The Ford Fusion is a popular four-door midsize sedan model manufactured by Ford. Production launched on this model in 2016. This model offers gas-powered engine options, as well as hybrid variant options, including a plug-in electric hybrid variant. The 2019 and 2020 model year Fusions are part of the second generation Ford Fusion. A significant redesign hasn’t happened since 2013. Overall, the Ford Fusion is best known for its agile handling, spacious interior, and its wide range of engine/motor options.

The base engine for the 2019 and 2020 Ford Fusion models is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces up to 175 horsepower. Higher trim-level Ford Fusion buyers can choose between a four-cylinder turbo engine that can produce up to 181 horsepower or 245 horsepower. The 2019 Ford Fusion Sport features a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 engine that can produce up to 325 horsepower. The gas/hybrid and electric plug-in hybrid variants are both capable of producing up to 195 horsepower. The 175 horsepower base engine has been described as lackluster by critics, but the additional engine options provide plenty of acceleration. Overall, the Ford Fusion lacks the fuel economy of many of its rivals. The 181 horsepower engine averages a combined 28 miles per gallon. These are the best fuel economy averages amongst all of the 2019/2020 Ford Fusion’s engine options.

The 2019 and 2020 Ford Fusion models offer very few standard infotainment/comfort features. The only standard features include a four-speaker sound system, a voice-activated interface, and MyKey, which promotes safe driving for younger drivers by setting limitations on the vehicle while it is being operated by someone other than the sole owner. Optional features include WiFi hotspots, a premium sound system, navigation, satellite radio, and more. What the Ford Fusion lacks in standard infotainment/comfort features, it makes up with all of its standard safety features. Ford’s CoPilot360 system comes standard with every Ford Fusion model. This system includes blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assistance, automated emergency braking, cross-traffic alerts, and more. Adaptive cruise control is the most notable piece of safety technology that is optional on all 2019 and 2020 Ford Fusions. All of these safety options make this model one of the safest of its class and an excellent choice for teenagers.
