If you think your vehicle is already efficient, then you may be in for a surprise. Every vehicle can be a little more efficient unless of course you're already following all of these tips. If you obey the speed limit, that will save you about $0.17 per gallon of gas and if you avoid idling your vehicle for long periods of time, you will be saving up to a half gallon of gas per hour. Try to also avoid hauling cargo on the roof or back of your vehicle, because that creates wind resistance and that means that you will be burning through gas much faster. Also try to travel light. Sandbags still in the back of your vehicle from winter? Ditch them and stop spending so much money on fuel. Use your cruise control when you are driving on the highway and that habit can save you gas, too.
